Lübeck and Travemünde, a unique duo.
For more than 850 years, Lübeck – and accordingly Travemünde – have served as a turntable for passenger and cargo traffic. Founded in 1143, Lübeck rose to become the Queen of the Hanseatic League. Without the shipping trade and harbour, this would have never been possible.
That explains why the people of Lübeck and Travemünde are not only fond of modern vessels, but also of historic sailing ships. The world-famous symbol of this intimate relationship and one of Travemünde's landmarks, is the four-masted barque “Passat”, one of the legendary ships of the Flying P Liners, which has now dropped anchor forever in Travemünde.
